Wembanyama Leads All-Rookie First Team
The NBA has unveiled the All-Rookie First and Second Teams for the season, with Spurs’ top pick Victor Wembanyama making a unanimous selection for the First Team. The Thunder emerged as the biggest winners, with two players making the cut: Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace.
First Team Selections
The All-Rookie First Team includes Thunder’s Holmgren, Heat’s Jaime Jaquez Jr., Hornets’ Brandon Miller, Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski, and Spurs’ Wembanyama.
Wembanyama, 20, appeared in 71 games this season, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. He has already secured the Rookie of the Year award this season. If he also makes the All-Defensive or All-NBA team, he will become the third rookie after Tim Duncan and David Robinson to achieve such a feat.
Podziemski’s Selection
Warriors’ rookie Podziemski, who previously touted himself and teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis as the best rookie duo of the year, has also made it to the All-Rookie First Team. However, Jackson-Davis did not make either the First or Second Team, leaving Podziemski feeling somewhat aggrieved.
Second Team Honors
The All-Rookie Second Team comprises Jazz’s Keyonte George, Grizzlies’ GG Jackson II, Mavericks’ Dereck Lively II, Rockets’ Amen Thompson, and Thunder’s Wallace.
Thunder’s Double Success
The Thunder’s representation in both the First and Second Teams reflects their strong rookie class this season. Holmgren and Wallace’s inclusion underscores the promising future of the Thunder franchise, as they continue to build around young talent.
Impressive Rookie Performances
Across both teams, the selection highlights the standout performances of rookies throughout the season. From scoring to defense, these rookies have showcased their skills and potential, providing a glimpse into the future of the NBA. (Panaloko)
